Adam recently retired from the
Special Forces, turns his hand to doing odd jobs for people, more to keep
himself occupied than to earn a decent living. He starts doing work for a sad
old man Raymond Black who lives on his own and is still grieving for his wife
who was tortured and murdered by a notorious Brighton family going by the name
of Townsend. To make matters worse the family were found not guilty thanks to
bent police officers and clever lawyers.
One day when Adam is working around the house
Raymond's daughter Sandra comes to see her father and they learn from the
television that the same family/gang have seriously beaten up someone else and
once again have got away with it. They then tell Adam about the death of
Raymond's wife and how the Townsend family actually seemed to enjoy killing her
Adam having a strong sense of justice and being
used to making sure people got their just desserts, offers to kill all the
people involved in the murder of Raymond's wife Ann. He engages the help of his
friend Brian whom he served with in the Special Forces. The more they look into
the Townsend family and their activities involving drug running, prostitution,
blackmail etc., all carried out with extreme violence, the more determined they
are to rid the world of them.
So begins the unrelenting tracking down of all the
members of the Townsend family especially those involved in the murder, can
they possibly get to them all before they are found out and caught? The pace
never lets up and races between Brighton and Nerja and Cutar in Spain where the
corrupt Townsend family also have connections. Brian and Adam have to move
really fast to keep one step ahead of the family and police and have many a
close shave.
This is a really good book, it was definitely one
of those that I could not put down, it certainly gets the pulse racing, the
action is nonstop and knowing Brighton quite well, I found it even more
interesting and exciting.
The story culminates in some surprising twists and
leaves the reader asking many thought provoking questions.

I have a great love of books and reading, especially crime and thrillers. I
play the occasional game of golf (when I am not reading). My great love
is cruising especially to far flung places, when there are long days at sea for
plenty more reading! I am really enjoying reviewing books and have found lots
of great new authors.
