‘A Good Night To Kill’ by Amen Alonge

ISBN: 978-1-52941522-5 (HB)

In London a drug war looms on the horizon, the really powerful Russian family of Lenkov led by Veronika, and a collective of Michael and his half brother Alan being the main protagonists.

Alan at one time a police officer and now a corrupt businessman took in a young lad only known as Pretty Boy when he was a boy. At one point in the past Pretty Boy had earned a reputation and is now something of a legend in London. We now learn that after disappearing for a good number of years he is preparing to come back to dispose of “Lucas” who betrayed him and led him to having to disappear for all that time.

Alan needs help to achieve victory over his rivals and wants Pretty Boy’s help, so he is delighted when he learns of his return to London. However, will Pretty Boy be willing to have anything to do with the carnage that is likely to ensue?

Reluctantly of course he agrees, he does after all owe everything to Alan for taking him in when his young world fell apart.

At one point we go back to 2009 and learn of how Alan’s half-brother’s wife Meiling had her bracelet stolen (a particularly horrendous crime briefly mentioned in an earlier book by Alonge, A Good Day To Die). This robbery leads Michael to exact revenge on the perpetrators, leading to even more carnage and mayhem.

Never before has London seen so much corruption as greed and revenge take over leading to gang warfare at it’s extreme with Pretty Boy reluctantly caught up in the middle of it.

Just as we are led to believe peace is now going to reign over the drugs trade, Pretty Boy receives a disturbing telephone call.  Will he come out of this unscathed? It seems highly unlikely.

A story really full of fast moving and non-stop action. Highly recommended for readers who love a book which is a struggle to put down.

Reviewer: Tricia Chappell

Amen Alonge was born in Lagos and moved to London as a teenager almost twenty years ago. Since then, he says he has enjoyed so many wonderful life experiences that have led me to this moment. ‘I'm an author, a lawyer, a husband, and a father... and I love every moment’.

Tricia Chappell. I have a great love of books and reading, especially crime and thrillers. I play the occasional game of golf (when I am not reading). My great love is cruising especially to far flung places, when there are long days at sea for plenty more reading! I am really enjoying reviewing books and have found lots of great new authors.
