Daniel Prince is overwhelmed by the successes he had achieved by his online People-Power blog. What started six years ago as a campaign for the closure of the care home in which his mother had died from neglect has grown to proportions beyond his wildest dreams. Since that successful outcome he has targeted global corporation and governments, and his following has grown to millions. The culmination of that success is that today four ministers have been forced to resign from the government, following a mass protest in London orchestrated by Daniel. He is jubilant as he watches the interviews he had given during the day being replayed. He cannot wait to share his success with his fiancé Beth who has supported him all the way.
But Beth doesn’t get to celebrate with him, before she reaches home Daniel is dead, and the suspect list is long. For Daniel has made many enemies during his campaigns on behalf of the people, and some of them are powerful people.
Taking charge of the investigation is DCI Jeff Temple and his Major Investigations Team. With such a high profile killing the pressure to get an early result is enormous. Although initially numb with shock Beth rallies when she reads the thousands of postings of support for Daniels work. Distressed and emotional she decides to pledge to keep his work alive by taking over his blog. This intensifies the pressure on Jeff Temple. If Daniel has been killed to silence him, will they also attempt to silence Beth?
James Raven presents a frightening picture of the power of social media, and the power that a tool such as the Internet provides. His books always present the reader with a challenging mystery, but more importantly he delivers thought provoking situations that boggle the mind. His book Random Targets still lingers at the back of my mind when I travel on motorways. If you haven’t read it, I recommend that you do.
The Blogger is brilliant and highly recommended.
